Laser/IPL Skin Rejuvenation – Photofacial
Dynamic Pulse Control Technology
What Is SharpLight IPL Photofacial Toronto?
SharpLight DPC (Dynamic Pulse Control) is a proprietary, light-based technology made in Israel and Health Canada approved — designed to rejuvenate the skin by delivering precise, controlled pulses of light to the dermal layer.
Unlike standard IPL devices, the DPC system allows our technician to customize every pulse to your specific skin tone, concern and treatment depth — making it significantly safer and more effective across a wider range of skin types than conventional photofacial technology.
The result: tighter, brighter, more even skin — with no needles, no downtime and no surgery.
Available at our skincare clinic in Toronto at 2 Carlton Street, Suite 720 — steps from College Subway Station at Yonge and Carlton.

The Science
How DPC Light Heals Your Skin
1
Light Penetrates the Dermis
Controlled DPC light pulses are directed onto the treatment area. The light penetrates through the epidermis to the dermal layer — gently heating the tissue from within without damaging the skin surface.
2
Collagen Contracts and Rebuilds
The thermal energy contracts existing collagen fibres for an immediate tightening effect — while simultaneously triggering the body’s natural wound-healing response to produce brand new collagen over the following weeks.
3
Pigment and Vessels Cleared
Excess melanin in age spots absorbs the light energy and shatters — then naturally clears from the skin. Broken capillaries and diffused redness are coagulated and reabsorbed, restoring an even skin tone.
4
Progressive Improvement
Results improve after each session as new collagen matures and remodels. The full benefit of 4 to 6 sessions builds over 3 to 6 months, producing lasting structural improvement in skin quality and tone.
Your Treatment Experience
What to Expect
Is it painful?
Not at all. Most clients feel a brief, mild stinging sensation that lasts just 1 to 2 seconds per pulse. The Sapphire Cool Tip continuously cools the skin surface throughout treatment for maximum comfort.
Is there downtime?
Minimal to none. You may experience slight redness that typically subsides within a few hours. Most clients return to work and normal activities immediately after their session — making it an ideal lunch-break treatment at our downtown Toronto clinic.
How soon will I see results?
Many clients notice tighter, smoother and more radiant skin after their very first treatment. Pigmentation begins clearing within 7 to 14 days. Results build progressively with each session over the full course.
How many sessions do I need?
We typically recommend 4 to 6 sessions spaced approximately 4 weeks apart for lasting results. Each session takes approximately 30 minutes. Maintenance sessions every 6 to 12 months preserve results.
Is it safe for all skin tones?
Yes. SharpLight DPC with FLOW Mode Technology treats all Fitzpatrick skin types I to VI safely. Each treatment is calibrated to your specific skin profile for optimal safety and results.
Treatment areas?
Face, neck, decolletage, hands and any area with pigmentation or vascular concerns. Our most common treatment area is the full face for overall rejuvenation and skin tone correction.

Got Questions?
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between IPL and laser?+
Standard lasers emit a single, fixed wavelength of light. IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) emits a broad spectrum of wavelengths simultaneously — allowing it to target multiple skin concerns in one session. The SharpLight DPC system takes this further by adding Dynamic Pulse Control, which customizes the pulse to your exact skin type and concern — making it significantly more precise and safer than standard IPL devices.
How many IPL sessions do I need for sun damage?+
For moderate sun damage, 3 sessions typically produce significant clearing of pigmentation. For more extensive sun damage or combined concerns (pigmentation + redness + texture), we recommend 4 to 6 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. You will see measurable improvement after every single session — results are cumulative and build progressively at our 2 Carlton Street Toronto clinic.
Is IPL safe for darker skin tones?+
Yes — the SharpLight DPC Pro with FLOW Mode Technology safely treats all Fitzpatrick skin types I to VI. Older IPL devices posed hyperpigmentation risks on darker skin because they couldn’t fine-tune pulse intensity. DPC technology allows us to precisely calibrate every pulse to your exact skin profile, eliminating that risk at our downtown Toronto clinic.
Can I combine IPL with a Yon-Ka facial?+
Yes — and we recommend it as a sequence. A Yon-Ka facial first clears surface debris and prepares the skin barrier. We then recommend waiting 1 to 2 weeks before IPL to ensure the skin is fully recovered. Combined, the two treatments address both the surface layer (facial) and deeper dermal concerns (IPL) for significantly better overall results at 4Seasons Skincare.
Will my age spots get darker before they clear?+
Yes — this is completely normal and a sign the treatment is working. Pigmented spots typically darken and develop a “coffee ground” texture in the 7 to 14 days following treatment as the shattered melanin rises to the surface. It then naturally flakes or fades away, revealing the clearer skin underneath. Do not pick or exfoliate this area.
How long do IPL results last?+
With proper sun protection, results from a full course of 4 to 6 sessions can last 1 to 2 years or longer. New sun exposure is the primary cause of recurrence. We recommend annual or bi-annual maintenance sessions and daily SPF 50 to preserve results long-term at 4Seasons Skincare, 2 Carlton Street, downtown Toronto.
