Fire cupping is a traditional therapy in which glass cups are briefly warmed to create suction and then placed on selected areas of the body. The cups remain in place for a period of time or may be moved depending on the treatment approach.
The suction gently lifts the skin and superficial tissues. Many clients seek cupping for areas of muscular tightness, stiffness or tension, particularly around the back, shoulders and neck.
At 4Seasons Massage & Acupuncture, fire cupping can be booked as a standalone service or incorporated into an individualized massage therapy or acupuncture treatment when appropriate.
01 Assessment We discuss your concerns, health history and treatment goals before determining whether cupping is appropriate. | 02 Cup Placement Glass cups are warmed to create suction and carefully placed on selected treatment areas. | 03 Treatment The cups remain in place or may be moved depending on the treatment approach and your comfort. | 04 Aftercare Temporary circular marks can occur after treatment. Aftercare guidance is provided based on your individual session. |
Fire cupping commonly produces temporary circular red, pink or purple marks where the cups were placed. The appearance varies from person to person and can also vary between different areas of the body.
These marks result from the suction applied to the superficial tissues and small blood vessels. The colour of a mark should not be interpreted as a measure of toxins or as proof of a particular health condition.
Marks generally fade gradually. Your practitioner will discuss what to expect and provide appropriate aftercare guidance following treatment.
