Downtown Toronto TCM Clinic
What Is Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture?

Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture uses fine, single-use sterile needles placed at selected acupuncture points. Treatment is individualized according to your health history, current concerns, goals and TCM assessment.

At 4Seasons Massage & Acupuncture, each session is performed by Charles Guo, R.Ac. Charles is also a Registered Massage Therapist, so clients who wish to receive both acupuncture and RMT care may book a combination appointment.

Contemporary Perspective

Research has explored acupuncture in areas such as pain modulation, nervous-system signalling and other physiological responses. Evidence varies by condition, so acupuncture is discussed as one option within an individualized care plan rather than as a guaranteed result.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Perspective

In TCM, treatment is guided by patterns involving Qi, Blood and the meridian system. Tongue and pulse assessment may be used together with your health history to help select an appropriate treatment approach.

Common Questions
Acupuncture FAQ
Does acupuncture hurt?

Sensations vary. Some clients feel very little at insertion, while others notice temporary heaviness, tingling, warmth or a dull ache around certain points. Your comfort is monitored throughout treatment.

How many acupuncture sessions might I need?

There is no single schedule that fits everyone. Treatment frequency depends on your concerns, how long they have been present, your health history, goals and response to care. Charles will discuss follow-up options after your assessment.

Is acupuncture covered by insurance in Ontario?

Many extended-health plans include acupuncture benefits when treatment is provided by a Registered Acupuncturist. Official R.Ac receipts are provided for eligible services. Coverage limits and reimbursement depend on your individual policy.

Can I combine acupuncture and massage in one visit?

Yes. Charles is registered as both an Acupuncturist and an RMT, so acupuncture and registered massage therapy can be booked in the same visit. Each service is documented separately.

Is acupuncture safe?

Acupuncture is generally considered safe when performed by a properly trained regulated practitioner. Charles uses single-use sterile disposable needles and reviews relevant health information before treatment.
